#4 Oilers Rout Wildcats 86-65

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked fourth in the nation, defeated Northern Michigan University by a score of 86-65 on Saturday, February 5 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 19-1 record on the year with a 12-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 53-30 advantage at the half and cruised through the second period as they received 20 points from sophomore guard Aaron Robinson and a career-high 18 points from sophomore forward Jack Smith.

Senior guard Nathan Hyde added 17 points while junior guard Kyle Caiola and sophomore forward Brad Piehl scored 12 apiece.

As a team, the Oilers shot only 36.8 percent (25-of-68) from the floor, but did drill 10-of-24 (41.7%) shots from the three point line and 26-of-29 (89.7%) attempts from the charity stripe.

Defensively, Findlay forced 22 turnovers and came away with a season-high 16 steals. They held a 23-2 advantage in points off of turnovers during the game.

The Wildcats shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the floor and were led by Jared Benson's 18 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on February 10 when they host Tiffin University at 6 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
