#9 Oilers Defeat Lakers, Advance In Tourney

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked ninth in the nation, defeated Lake Superior State University 73-56 on Wednesday, March 2 in the first round of the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 24-3 record on the season.

The Oilers shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the floor and forced 19 turnovers in the game. They also out-rebounded the Lakers by a 34-31 margin and dished out 16 assists on the night.

Junior guard Kyle Caiola led the team with 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals while freshman forward Greg Kahlig added 13 points, four assists and three rebounds off the bench.

Senior guard Nathan Hyde added 12 points and seven rebounds while sophomore guard Aaron Robinson had ten points and six boards.

The Lakers were led by Khalid Wells' 17 points.

The Oilers will now move onto the semi finals of the GLIAC Tournament and face Wayne State University at 3 pm in Big Rapids, Michigan.
