Oilers Top York in an Exhibition Game, 93-75

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked fifth in the NCAA Division II Bulletin Poll, knocked off York University by a score of 93-75 in an exhibition game on Saturday, October 29 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers shot 48.6 percent (34-of-70) from the floor, hitting 11-of-29 (37.9%) of their three point attempts along the way.

York meanwhile connected on 51.8 percent (29-of-56) of their shots, but turned the ball over 27 times as the Oilers racked up 18 steals.  The turnovers proved to be the difference as Findlay scored 34 points off of them in the win.

Senior guard Kyle Caiola led the team with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting.  The Parma, Ohio native also hit 4-of-5 three point attempts and added four assists and three steals.

Sophomore forward Greg Kahlig recorded 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting while sophomore guard Sean Samsel came off the bench to hit 4-of-7 shots from behind the three point line for 12 points.

Kahlig splashed 3-of-5 triple tries and added five rebounds for the Oilers as well.

Junior forwards Jack Smith and Brad Piehl registered eight points apiece while junior guard Aaron Robinson tallied seven.

Freshmen Jake Heagen and Josh Brown scored six points point each in the win off the bench.

The Lions were led by David Tynsdale, who scored a game-high 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting.

The Oilers will play their final exhibition game before the regular season next Saturday against the University of Dayton.  The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 pm inside UD Arena.
