#16 Oilers Rout Lakers 85-63

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 16th in the nation, came away with an 85-63 win over Lake Superior State University on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory runs their record to 3-1 on the season with a 1-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers had their best shooting game of the young season as they connected on 50 percent (31-of-62) of their field goal attempts and drilled 37 percent (10-of-27) of their three point tries.  Findlay also recorded 20 assists and held a 36-31 advantage on the boards.

Senior forward Jack Smith came off the bench to tie his career-high with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting.  Smith also grabbed four rebounds, had two assists, a steal and a block in only 19 minutes of action.

Junior forward Greg Kahlig added 15 points and six rebounds while senior forward Brad Piehl contributed ten points and five rebounds.

Senior guard Aaron Robinson also reached double figures with ten points and freshman guard Alphonso Baity added eight points. 

Junior forward Mark Frilling and freshman forward Dylan Kaufman also provided valuable contributions off the bench as they each scored six points.  Frilling added six rebounds and three blocks in the win as well.

The Lakers, who shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field, were led by Derek Kinney's 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Oilers will host Northwood University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
