Kahlig Leads #16 Oilers to 84-72 Win Over Northwood

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 16th in the nation, came away with a 84-72 win at home over Northwood University on Saturday, Dec. 1.  The victory gives the Oilers a 4-1 record on the season with a 2-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 44-32 lead at the break behind the three point shooting of junior forward Greg Kahlig.  Kahlig hit five three pointers in the first half and ended the game with a season-high 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting.

Freshman forward Dylan Kaufman added 12 points off the bench in only nine minutes of action while senior guard Aaron Robinson tallied ten points, six rebounds and three assists.

Junior forward Mark Frilling recorded eight points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Oilers as well.

Findlay shot 50 percent (29-of-58) from the field and connected on 10-of-25 (40%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.  They also held the Timberwolves to a 41.7 percent (25-of-60) shooting clip and forced 14 turnovers in the win.

The Oilers will make their first road trip of the season next week when they travel to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to take on Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University.  The Oilers will kick the trip off on Thursday, Dec. 6 against the Huskies.  The contest is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m. in Houghton, Michigan.
