Kahlig Leads Oilers To 81-60 Win At Tiffin

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with an 81-60 win over Tiffin University on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Oilers, who led by only a point at half, connected on 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from long range in the second half, improving their record to 15-6 on the season with a 12-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Junior forward Greg Kahlig burned the nets with a career-high 33-points (11-of-18),  connecting on a career-high 7-of-9 from behind the three point line. He also drained four of his five free throw attempts and contributed seven rebounds.

Senior Forward Brad Piehl added ten points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Alphonso Baity had nine points and three boards.

Junior guard Sean Samsel and freshman forward Dylan Kaufman each chipped in eight points for the Oilers off the bench. Senior forward Jack Smith also contributed with three points and four rebounds.

As a team, Findlay shot 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field and 55.6 percent (10-18) from long range while sinking 15-of-18 from the charity stripe.

The Oilers also out-rebounded Tiffin 37-30 in the contest, holding their opposition to 42.6 percent shooting.

Joe Graessle led the Dragons with 20 points, shooting 8-of-18 from the field while going 4-of-6 from the three point line.

The Oilers will aim for their third straight win at home against GLIAC rival Ashland University on Thursday, Feb. 13.
