Oilers Ranked 9th in Preseason Poll

The University of Findlay men's basketball team is ranked ninth in the NCAA Division II Bulletin Preseason poll.

The Oilers won their second straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament title last year under the guidance of head coach Charlie Ernst.

Findlay finished last year ranked 22nd in the nation with a 22-8 record.  They reached the NCAA Division II National Tournament, but were eliminated in the first round by Drury University, who eventually claimed the national title.

In addition, senior forward Greg Kahlig was picked as a preseason All-American by the publication after being named first team all-region and first team all-conference last year for the Oilers.

The Ft. Recovery, Ohio native averaged 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game during his junior season.  He also shot 48.9 percent from the floor, 44.1 percent from behind the three point line and 84.6 percent from the charity stripe.

The Oilers will open their season with a pair of exhibition games on Nov. 1-2.  They will play at Wright State University on Nov. 1 (7pm) and then face the University of Dayton on Nov. 2 (7pm).

Findlay's regular season begins on Nov. 9 at home against Marygrove (3pm).
