#8 Oilers Get Key Road Win at Lake Superior State

The #8 Oilers men's basketball team captured an 88-78 win over Lake Superior State University on Dec. 5 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.  The victory gives the Oilers a 4-0 record on the season with a 1-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).  

The Oilers shot 54.5 percent (30-of-55) from the floor and canned 8-of-19 (42.1%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.  They also forced 16 turnovers and dished out 22 assists in the win.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the way with 28 points on 8-of-14 shooting.  He also drained 3-of-5 shot attempts from three point land and connected on 9-of-13 attempts from the charity stripe.

Sophomore guard Alphonso Baity had a great game for Findlay, setting new career-highs with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman contributed 12 points, four rebounds and three assists while junior forward Jake Heagen stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in the win.

Sophomore forward John Staley also provided valuable playing time off the pine for Findlay with eight points, three rebounds and two assists.

Derek Billing led the Lakers with 26 points.

The Oilers will now prepare to face Northwood University on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Midland, Mich.
