#15 Oilers Scorch the Nets in Win Over Huskies

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 15th in the nation, claimed an 86-73 win over Michigan Technological University on Dec. 12 in Croy Gymnasium to give them a 5-1 record on the season.

The Oilers, who improved to 2-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with the win, had their shooting stroke working early and often in the game as they connected on 62.5 percent (30-of-48) of their shot attempts.

Findlay hit 15 field goals in each of the two halves and also connected on 7-of-14 (50%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.  The Huskies meanwhile shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the floor and drained 10-of-28 (35.7%) attempts from three point land.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the Oilers with a season-high 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting.  He also hit 5-of-7 attempts from behind the three point line and canned 5-of-7 shot attempts from the charity stripe in the victory.

Sophomore forward Dylan Kaufman also reached double figures for the Oilers, scoring 16 points to go along with a career-high five steals.  He also recorded four rebounds and two assists while hitting 6-of-10 shot attempts.

Senior forward Mark Frilling chipped in nine points, four rebounds and two blocks while sophomore guard Alphonso Baity had nine points and six assists.

Junior forward Jake Heagen snatched a team-high nine boards while senior guard Sean Samsel connected on a pair of triples for six points in the game.

The Huskies were led by Austin Armga's 26 points and six rebounds.

The Oilers will return to Croy on Saturday to host Northern Michigan University at 3 p.m.
