Oilers Roll to 87-62 Win Over Panthers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team rolled to an 87-62 victory over Ohio Dominican University on Thursday, Jan. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.  The win gives the Oilers a 10-3 record on the year with a 6-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers got their defense going early, which led to a number of easy transition points as they built a 47-21 lead at the break.  They then cruised through the second half for their third straight win.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the team with 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting to lead the team while sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman added 13 points in the game.

Junior forward Jake Heagen had a solid all-around game for Findlay with 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks while sophomore guard Alphonso Baity reached double figures with ten points to go along with four assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Senior forward Mark Frilling and sophomore forward John Staley each contributed eight points for the Oilers while senior guard Sean Samsel recorded three points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Oilers shot 48.5 percent (32-or-66) from the floor and canned 7-of-17 (41.2%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.  They also finished the game with 22 assists and held the Panthers to a 33.8 percent (25-of-74) shooting clip.

The Oilers will face Tiffin University in their next contest, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio.
