The University of Findlay men's basketball team had no answer for Walsh University as the Cavaliers defeated the Oilers by a score of 81-61 on Thursday, Jan. 30 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers fell behind early as Walsh opened the game on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes, but were able to bounce back and enter halftime only down three points at 37-34.  The start of the second half didn't start any better for the Oilers than the start of the first half as the Cavaliers went on a 9-0 run to open up a 46-34 advantage.  Findlay would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way as they fell to 13-4 on the year with a 9-4 record in conference play with the loss.

The Oilers only shot 36.2 percent (21-of-58) from the floor and had trouble from the free throw line, hitting only 9-of-18 (50%) attempts.  Walsh shot 45.6 percent (31-of-68) from the field and held a 45-36 advantage on the boards in the game.

Junior forward Jake Heagen led Findlay with 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman added 11 points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Alphonso Baity had nine points, five assists and four rebounds in the contest.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig recorded eight points, three rebounds and three assists while red-shirt freshman center Quaran Jones had eight points, two rebounds and a block.

Chall Montgomery led Walsh with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Hrvoje Vucic and Jesse Hardin also reached double figures with 16 points apiece.

The Oilers will now travel to Canton, Ohio to face Malone University at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
