Oilers Hold Off Dragons, Win 71-64

In a game that featured ten lead changes, the Oilers men's basketball team found a way to grind out a 71-64 win over Tiffin University on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 17-4 record on the season with a 13-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Findlay shot only 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the floor, but did convert 8-of-19 (42.1%) three point attempts in the game.  They also made 86.4 percent (19-of-22) of their free throw attempts and forced 15 turnovers.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the way with 24 points.  Limited in the first half due to foul trouble, Kahlig scored 22 points in the second half as he finished the game by connecting on 7-of-12 shot attempts.

Junior forward Jake Heagen also reached double figures with 15 points to go along with six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman registered six points and seven rebounds while fellow sophomore guard Alphonso Baity had five points, five rebounds and five assists.

Senior forward Mark Frilling played well for the Oilers in the paint, scoring four points to go along with seven rebounds while freshman forward Tyler Stern-Tucker provided a lift in the first half with six points and two boards in only five minutes of work.

The Dragons, who shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the field, were led by Ashton Khan's 22 points.

The Oilers will now prepare to face Ashland University on Feb. 13.  The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. in Ashland, Ohio.
