Chargers Bolt Past #23 Oilers

The 23rd-ranked Oilers men's basketball team lost by a score of 86-67 to Hillsdale College on Thursday, Feb. 27 in Hillsdale, Mich.  The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak and gives the Oilers a 21-5 record on the year with a 17-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the floor, which included a 7-of-27 (25.9%) showing from behind the three point line.

In comparison, the Chargers connected on 51 percent (26-of-51) of their shot attempts and drained 12-of-26 (46.2%) attempts from long range.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman paced the Oilers with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.  He also added four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the game.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig added 15 points, four rebounds and two steals while sophomore guard Alphonso Baity chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Brandon Pritzl led the Chargers with 27 points while Tim Dezelski recorded 23 points and nine boards.

Kyle Cooper also recorded a double-double for Hillsdale with 13 points and 14 boards.

The Oilers will host a first round GLIAC Tournament game on March 5 against an opponent to be determined. The contest will begin at 7 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
