Kahlig Named GLIAC Player of the Year

2014 All-GLIAC Team

Senior forward Greg Kahlig was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year as the league office unveiled their annual postseason awards on March 3.

Kahlig has led the Oilers to a 21-5 record this season and is currently leading the GLIAC in scoring at 23.9 points per game.  He is also averaging 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 50.1 percent from the field.

The Ft. Recovery, Ohio native, who also earned first team all-conference honors last year, has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week five times this season.  He has posted two 40-point outings this year and his 537 points scored in conference play is the second highest total in GLIAC history.

Kahlig ranks seventh all-time at Findlay with 1,762 points.

In addition, junior forward Jake Heagen secured second team all-conference accolades and sophomore guard Alphonso Baity earned a spot on the all-defensive team.

Heagen has averaged 12.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game for the Oilers thus far. 

Baity meanwhile has chipped in with averages of 10.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game for Findlay.

Saginaw Valley State's C.J. Turnage was named the Freshman of the Year while Lake Superior State's Steve Hettinga captured GLIAC Coach of the Year honors.
