Men's Basketball Signs 2

The University of Findlay men's basketball team inked Aaron Overhiser and Katwan Singleton during the early signing period on Nov. 13. Both players will be eligible to compete for the Oilers during the 2015-16 season.

"This is a great day for our basketball program," said head coach Charlie Ernst. "These are two talented and well coached players that we made priority recruits in the summer. They fit in very well because they both come from winning programs and have well-rounded games."

Overhiser, a 6'7, 215-pound forward from Fennville High School in Michigan, averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and 1 steal per game last year as a junior.

"Findlay is getting a kid that will not be outworked by anyone," said high school coach Ryan Klingler. "His motor and determination are traits that set him apart from others. He is very versatile and can adapt his game to fit different roles on the team."

Overhiser was named first team all-conference and honorable mention all-Michigan. He was also an all-area pick and earned all-academic honors.

"Aaron is a rugged, physical and skilled player with good athleticism," said Ernst. "He plays with great passion and energy."

Singleton, a 6'5, 185-pound wing from Defiance High School, averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game as a junior.

"We are really excited that Katwan will be joining such a quality program," said high school coach Kirk Lehman.  "He has great athletic skills and can score in a variety of ways. He is also more than willing to accept the top defensive responsibility and is the ultimate team player."

Singleton was named first team all-Western Buckeye League and earned third team all-Northwest Ohio honors last season. He also helped his program achieve a 21-4 record as a junior.

"Katwan is a very athletic and versatile wing," said Ernst. "He can play inside and out and will remind people of former UF standout Frank Phillips. He also loves the challenge of guarding the top offensive players on opposing teams."
