Oilers to Host Wheeling Jesuit/St. Andrews this Week
The University of Findlay men's basketball team will be back at home for two games this week against Wheeling Jesuit University and St. Andrews University. The Oilers will play the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and then face the Knights on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.

Series Information
The Oilers hold a 3-0 lead in the all-time series against Wheeling Jesuit dating back to the 1957-58 campaign when Findlay won by a score of 74-50.
The Oilers came away with a 97-66 win over the Cardinals last year in Wheeling, W. Va.
Greg Kahlig led the way with 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting in only 21 minutes of playing time. He also splashed home 6-of-9 three point attempts and added four rebounds and two assists.
Dylan Kaufman also reached double figures, scoring 19 points in the victory on the strength of a 5-of-7 showing from three point range.
Jake Heagen contributed eight points and seven rebounds while John Staley had seven points, two rebounds and two assists.
Eric Siefert led the Cardinals with 14 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
The Oilers have never played the Knights before.
Findlay
The Oilers lost their third straight game, 81-74 against Northern Michigan University on Dec. 13 in Marquette, Mich.
The Oilers trailed by ten points at 64-54 with just under five minutes to play, but clawed back to within two at 76-74 when Jake Heagen drilled a three pointer with only 20 ticks remaining. The Wildcats hit their free throws down the stretch however to pull out the victory.
Findlay shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the floor and canned 9-of-19 (47.4%) shot attempts from three point range. In comparison, Northern Michigan hit 56.6 percent (30-of-53) of their field goal attempts and drained 9-of-13 (69.2%) tries from long range in the game.
Dylan Kaufman paced the Oilers with a season-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He hit 5-of-6 shot attempts from three point land and also added seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Heagen had 16 points, three rebounds and three assists while Ricardo Smith and John Staley had eight points apiece.
Tyler Stern-Tucker had seven points and three boards while Quaran Jones chipped in five points and three rebounds in the loss.
Wheeling Jesuit
The Cardinals are 4-2 on the season and have been led by Eric Siefert, who is averaging 19.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Haywood Highsmith (14.0), Kyle Ritz (12.3), Justin Fritts (12.0) and Pat Moseh (11.5) are also averaging in double figures on a nightly basis for Wheeling Jesuit as well.
Chase Lawson is also off to a good start and is averaging 9.5 points per contest as the Cardinals are putting up 86.2 points per game.
St. Andrews
The Knights are 4-4 on the season and will face Marygrove College on Dec. 18 before they come to Findlay for their game against the Oilers.
Aaron Smith leads the team with an average of 19.3 points per game while Quentin Duncan is giving the squad 14.9 points per contest.
Ryan Outar is also having a great season for the Knights and sports averages of 11.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
1,000-Point Plateau
Senior forward Jake Heagen will look to become the Oilers 43rd member of the 1,000-point club this season. Heagen has currently scored 967 points during his career at Findlay.
Putting Points on the Board
Junior guard Dylan Kaufman is averaging 16.0 points per game for the Oilers this season, the seventh best mark in the GLIAC.
During the Oilers road trip to the Upper Peninsula last weekend, Kaufman averaged 21.0 points per game.
Filling the Stat Sheet
Senior forward Jake Heagen has been stuffing the stat sheet in the early portion of the season with averages of 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.
For 3
The Oilers are shooting 40.2 percent from three point range this year, the second best mark in the league. Junior guard Dylan Kaufman is leading the way while making 54.5 percent of his long range attempts, the third best mark in the GLIAC.
Kaufman is also making 3.0 triples per game, the third best total in the league.
Making Shots
Junior forward John Staley is leading the GLIAC in field goal shooting percentage as he is connecting on 66.7 percent of his attempts this year.
An Elite Program
The Oilers have one of the best winning percentages in NCAA Division II competition since the year 2000, having won 358 games and lost only 83 for an overall winning percentage of .812. During that timeframe, the Oilers reached the Elite 8 in 2005, appeared in the Sweet 16 in 2008 and won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2009 with a perfect 36-0 record.
Racking up the Victories
The Oilers have been playing basketball since the 1902-03 campaign and have amassed a 1,469-869-2 (.628) record since their initial season of competition.
A Tough Place to Play
The Oilers are 560-114 (.831) in Croy Gymnasium since they starting playing home games there during the 1969-70 season. They have gone undefeated at home eight times in a season since they began play in Croy Gymnasium as well.
In the past ten years the Oilers have posted a staggering 148-6 record at home for an incredible winning percentage of .961. During the past ten years, the Oilers have gone undefeated at home five times. They accomplished the feat 2010-11, 2009-10, 2008-09, 2007-08 and 2005-06.
Handling Non-Conference Foes
The Oilers have posted a 57-3 record (.950) against non-conference opponents in games played at Croy Gymnasium during the past ten years. Their last loss at home to a non-conference team came against #1 West Liberty State by a score of 90-74 on Nov. 14, 2012.
