Panthers Knock Off Oilers 55-52

The University of Findlay men's basketball team suffered a 55-52 loss to Ohio Dominican University on Jan. 15 in Columbus, Ohio. The loss gives the Oilers a 6-7 record on the season with a 3-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers had trouble putting the ball in the basket as they hit only 32.2 percent (19-of-59) of their shot attempts, which included a 4-of-21 (19%) showing from three point range. The Panthers meanwhile converted 42.2 percent (19-of-45) of their field goal attempts and swished 8-of-19 (42.1%) shots from long range.

Freshman guard Nick Ruthsatz came off the bench to lead the Oilers in scoring with 13 points while senior forward Jake Heagen recorded a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Junior forward John Staley nearly recorded a double-double with eight points to go along with a career-high ten boards.

Freshman guard Elijah Kahlig recorded seven points and a career-high six rebounds while freshman forward Taren Sullivan chipped in seven points off the bench.

Trent Weaver had a great game for Ohio Dominican with 20 points and ten rebounds while Chad Nelson recorded 14 points, four rebounds and four assists in the game.

The Oilers will host Tiffin University on Saturday in their next game. The contest is scheduled to tip at 3 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
