Heagen Named 1st Team All-GLIAC

2015 Men's Basketball All-GLIAC Teams

Senior forward Jake Heagen was named first team all-league as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released their annual postseason awards on March 2.

Heagen, who earned second team all-conference accolades last year for the Oilers, is averaging 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is also shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and is canning 37.6 percent of his three point tries.

The New Concord, Ohio native has scored 1,279 career points at Findlay, the 27th best total in school history.

In addition, junior forward John Staley was selected to the all-defensive team. Staley is averaging 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Dayton, Ohio native is also hitting 64.4 percent of his field goal attempts, the best mark in the league.

Senior guard Ben Stelzer from Michigan Tech was named the GLIAC Player of the Year while Malone's Ben Haraway was tabbed the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Steve Hettinga from Lake Superior State earned GLIAC Coach of the Year honors as well.

The Oilers will face Saginaw Valley State University in the first round of the 2015 GLIAC Tournament. The contest is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. on March 4 in University Center, Mich.
