Findlay Signs Matt Ashley

Findlay Signs Matt Ashley

Matt Ashley Highlights

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay basketball team signed another player who will be eligible to play in the coming season. Matt Ashley, from Okinawa, Japan, was inked on May 2.

"I am excited to announce the signing of Matt Ashley. We feel like he will be a great fit at Findlay and has a tremendous upside", said Oilers' men's basketball coach, Charlie Ernst. "He possesses excellent skills and athleticism for his size."

Ashley, a 6-6, 205 lb. forward, attended Kubasaki High School where he averaged a double-double with 24 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. He is a three-time first team all-league, all-area, and all-district selection and was named to the Far East all-Tournament team his junior and senior seasons. Ashley led his school to back-to-back Far East championships in his final two years.

Ernst continued, "He comes from a military background, as his father has been stationed in the Marine Corps in Japan, so he will bring the discipline and work ethic that it takes to be a successful student-athlete".

Ashley is the second signee who will attend Findlay in the fall as Chazz George, from Huber Heights, was signed back on November 11, 2015.
