The University of Findlay men's basketball team fell 61-58 at Grand Valley State University on Dec. 1 in Allendale, Mich. during their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest of the 2016-17 season. The loss gives the Oilers a 3-2 record on the year with a 0-1 mark in league play.
The Oilers took a 58-52 lead with just under six minutes to play in the game, but were unable to score the rest of the way as Luke Ryskamp buried a three pointer with two seconds to play to give the Lakers the win.
The Oilers only shot 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the floor and were 3-of-8 (37.5%) from the free throw line in the game. The Lakers also out-rebounded the Oilers by a 43-32 margin and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds in the contest.
Senior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker led the Oilers with a season-high 13 points off the bench while junior guard Martyce Kimbrough had 11 points.
Sophomore forward Alex White contributed seven points and a career-high ten rebounds while junior forward Taren Sullivan had seven points and three assists.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 4 when they travel to Big Rapids, Mich. to face Ferris Sate University at 2 p.m.
