Oilers Cruise Past Northwood, Win 91-73

The University of Findlay men's basketball team cruised to a 91-73 win over Northwood University on Dec. 8 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 5-2 record on the season with a 2-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers got off to a blistering start in the game as they held a 35-11 lead through the first ten minutes. The hot start was fueled by junior guard Martyce Kimbrough, who scored 20 points during that timeframe. Northwood made a run at the end of the half to close the gap to 12 at 45-33, but the Oilers took care of business in the second half to come away with an easy victory.

Findlay connected on 50.8 percent (33-of-65) of their shot attempts in the win and hit 12-of-29 (41.4%) attempts from behind the three point line. They also limited the Timberwolves to a 40.8 percent (29-of-71) shooting clip and held a 41-38 advantage on the boards.

Kimbrough poured in a season-high 28 points to lead the way. The Lima, Ohio native hit 9-of-22 attempts from the field and splashed 6-of-14 tries from long range.

Junior forward Taren Sullivan produced a solid all-around game with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks while sophomore forward Katwan Singleton came off the bench to record a season-high 11 points. He also added three rebounds and three assists in the win.

Senior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker was great off the bench as well for Findlay as he registered nine points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Northwood received 19 points from Zach Allread and 17 points from Matt Crowl.

The Oilers will be back in Croy again on Saturday to host Lake Superior State University at 3 p.m.
