Career Night for Tyler Stern-Tucker | Oilers Win Thriller

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's basketball team held on to defeat the Ohio Dominican Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 19 by a score of 72-69. With the win, the Oilers improve to 13-4 on the year with a 7-3 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play while the Panthers fall to 10-7 overall and 5-6 in the league.

Findlay looked to be in control after 20 minutes of action, taking a 38-24 lead into halftime. In that half, the Orange and Black shot 57% from inside the three-point arc and held the Panthers to just 10-of-28 from the floor with just one ball made from deep.

The second half was different as the Panthers would crawl back thanks in part to a 13-5 run over a three minute stretch shortly after the half began. That cut the Oilers lead to 54-49 with 11:42 to play.

Ohio Dominican would get to within one point at 70-69 with just 16 seconds to play. A pair of free throws from junior Martyce Kimbrough forced the Panthers to attempts a three at the buzzer, which they missed, securing the Oilers victory.

Senior Tyler Stern-Tucker was the leading scorer for Findlay who dropped a career-high 21 points on 9-of-16 from the floor. His nine rebounds tied a season-high and nearly gave him his first career double-double.

Sullivan and Kimbrough scored 20 points apiece and each grabbed five rebounds. Sullivan had three assists while Kimbrough had two.

The Oilers' next game is this Saturday, Jan. 21 when they host Lake Erie College in a game slated to begin at 3:00 pm.
