First Half Run Lifts Oilers Past Dragons

Tiffin, OH - The University of Findlay men's basketball team went on the road and took down the Tiffin University Dragons on Thursday, Jan. 26 by a score of 75-58. With the win, Findlay is now 15-4 overall and 9-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play while Tiffin falls to 8-11 and 4-8 in conference.

Findlay faced an early defecit in the game. Through eight minutes of action, the Oilers were down 20-10 until they rattled off a 24-6 run, making the score 34-26 at the break.

The Oilers extended the lead in the second half, outscoring the Dragons 41-32 and cruising to a 75-58 win.

Findlay hit on 28-of-53 from the floor for 52.8% and made 8-of-21 from behind the arc while holding the Dragons to 40.7% (22-of-54) overall and just 2-of-16 from deep. The Oilers outrebounded the Dragons 34-29.

Senior Tyler Stern-Tucker and junior Martyce Kimbrough led the Oilers with 18 points. Stern-Tucker hit 8-of-12 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds while Kimbrough hit 7-of-12 including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.

Junior Elijah Kahlig reached double-figures with 17 points, 11 of which came in the first half. He hit 5-of-9 and made a trio of shots from deep.

Junior Taren Sullivan had another solid game as he scored eight points and led the team with eight rebounds while sophomore Trey Smith scored nine points, four of which came from the charity stripe.

Findlay is back on the court on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they head to Ashland Univeristy to take on the Eagles at 3:00 pm.
