Oilers Charge Past Hillsdale, Win 88-74

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with an 88-74 win over Hillsdale College on Feb. 2 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory gives the Oilers a 17-5 record on the season with an 11-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 44-25 advantage at the break and led by as many as 23 points in the second half before the Chargers gained some momentum. Hillsdale would eventually cut Findlay's lead to eight with only 2:14 to play, but the Oilers played poised basketball down the stretch to pick up the win.

The Oilers shot a blistering 59.3 percent (35-of-59) from the floor and connected on 10-of-20 (50%) tries from three point range in the game. They also dished out 22 assists and made six blocks in the victory.

Junior forward Taren Sullivan led the Oilers with a career-high 28 points. The Lima, Ohio native also stuffed the stat sheet with nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks. He made 12-of-15 shot attempts and also hit two triples in the game.

Senior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker and junior guard Martyce Kimbrough each had 15 points while junior guard Elijah Kahlig registered 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Stern-Tucker added two rebounds and two assists while Kimbrough dished out a season-high six assists in the game.

Sophomore guard Trey Smith also reached double figures, scoring ten points on 3-of-3 shooting.

The Chargers were led by Nick Czarnowski's 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Oilers will return to action again on Feb. 9 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Ohio Dominican.
