Oilers Cruise to 92-55 Win at Lake Erie

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with a convincing 92-55 win over Lake Erie College on Feb. 11 in Painesville, Ohio to push their record to 19-5 on the season. The victory, which assured them of at least a share of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division title, gives them a 13-4 mark in league play.

The Oilers shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from three point range and connected on an overall shooting percentage of 51.5 percent (34-of-66) in the game. Their 17 made three pointers tied their season-high and they also finished the game by holding the Storm to a mere 36.7 percent (22-of-60) in the win.

Junior guard Martyce Kimbrough led the way with a game-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting. Kimbrough also splashed 8-of-10 tries from three point range and grabbed four rebounds in the contest. His eight made triples tied his career-high.

Junior forward Taren Sullivan stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, ten rebounds, seven assists and three steals while junior guard Elijah Kahlig had 14 points, three rebounds and two assists. Sullivan connected on 4-of-6 attempts from three point range while Kahlig converted 4-of-8 tries from long range.

Senior guard Ricardo Smith nearly reached double figures with eight points to go along with three assists, three steals, two blocks and two rebounds.

Brogan Scott led the Storm with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Findlay will return home to host Tiffin University on Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. for their annual Make-A-Wish game.
