#22 Oilers Host Lakers in 1st Round
The 22nd-ranked Oilers will host Grand Valley State in the first round of the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 in Croy Gymnasium.

Series Information
The Oilers hold an 18-12 advantage in the all-time series against Grand Valley State dating back to the 1997-98 campaign when the Lakers came out on top by a score of 81-76.
The Lakers defeated the Oilers by a score of 61-58 in the final seconds on Dec. 1 in Allendale. Luke Ryskamp buried a three pointer with only a few ticks remaining to give the Lakers the win.
The Oilers only shot 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the floor and were 3-of-8 (37.5%) from the free throw line in the game. The Lakers also out-rebounded the Oilers by a 43-32 margin and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds in the contest.
Tyler Stern-Tucker led the Oilers with a season-high 13 points off the bench while Martyce Kimbrough had 11 points.
Alex White contributed seven points and a career-high ten rebounds while Taren Sullivan had seven points and three assists.
Findlay
The Oilers are 22-5 on the season and ranked 22nd in the nation. Junior guard Martyce Kimbrough and junior forward Taren Sullivan have been carrying the scoring load for Findlay this season and are both ranked in the top-ten of the GLIAC in points per game average.
Kimbrough is averaging 20.4 points per contest, the fourth-best mark in the league, while Sullivan ranks sixth with 17.6 points per game. The duo has spearheaded one of the top offensive attacks in the league as the Oilers rank third in scoring at 85.1 points per game.
Grand Valley State
The Lakers are 16-12 on the season. Their 12-9 record in GLIAC play enabled them to secure the seventh-seed in the GLIAC Tournament.
Luke Ryskamp leads the team with averages of 13.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He has also made a team-high 46 three pointers this season.
Trevin Alexander is having a good season and is contributing 11.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He has also recorded 28 steals and 20 blocks for the Lakers this season.
The Lakers are averaging 73.8 points per game and shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. They are also recording 39.0 rebounds per contest.
Chasing Records
The Oilers have made 277-of-680 three point attempts this season. The school record for most made three pointers in a season is 285, which was set during the 1995-96 campaign. That team also set a school record for most three point shots attempted with 751.
Earlier this season, the Oilers tied a school record with 19 triples in their 105-87 win over Tiffin on Feb. 16. Findlay also hit 19 three pointers in a 108-63 win over Glenville State on Nov. 17, 1995.
1,000-Point Club
Junior guard Martyce Kimbrough became the Oilers 45th member of the 1,000-point club on Feb. 23, 2017 at Walsh. Kimbrough hit a three pointer at the buzzer to win the game and eclipse the 1,000 point mark. He currently ranks 45th all-time at UF with 1,001 points in only 55 career games. He is chasing Dylan Kaufman for 44th place on the all-time list. Kaufman recorded 1,012 points for Findlay from 2013-16.
Junior forward Taren Sullivan is looking to become the 46th member of the Oilers 1,000-point club as he has scored 957 points during his tenure at Findlay.
GLIAC Tournament Success
The Oilers sport a 31-8 record in the GLIAC Tournament, winning titles in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Findlay has appeared in the championship game of the event ten times in the past 13 years. They reached the finals in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The Oilers have captured eight GLIAC Tournament titles, the most in league history. Their win in the 2013 tournament gave them two in a row away from the friendly confines of Croy Gymnasium, the first time a school had ever won back-to-back championships on the road in the history of the GLIAC Tournament. Their victory in 2014 then marked the first time a GLIAC school had won three straight tournament championships.
Findlay has reached the championship game of the GLIAC Tournament ten times during their existence in the league and sport an 8-2 record in those games.
Advantage Findlay
Since 2002-03, the first season the Oilers qualified for the GLIAC Tournament, Findlay has achieved a 22-1 record in GLIAC Tournament games within the friendly confines of Croy Gymnasium. The program has garnered six of their eight GLIAC Tournament titles in front of their home fans.
