#20 Oilers Face Lake Superior/Miami-Hamilton in Cedarville

The #20 Oilers will take part in the Don Callan Classic this weekend in Cedarville, Ohio. They will play Lake Superior State on Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. before facing Miami-Hamilton on Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m.

Series Information

The Oilers hold a 19-6 advantage in the all-time series against Lake Superior State dating back to the 1997-98 season when Findlay came away with a 68-57 win. Last season, the Lakers came away with a 90-85 win over the Oilers in Croy Gymnasium.

Martyce Kimbrough had a hot hand for Findlay as he poured in 38 points on 11-of-21 shooting. Kimbrough hit 8-of-16 attempts from behind the three point line and made 8-of-9 tries from the charity stripe in the game.

Taren Sullivan recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds as well. Sullivan connected on 6-of-17 shot attempts from the field and also added five assists, three steals and a block.

Ricardo Smith nearly recorded a double-double with ten points and eight rebounds while Elijah Kahlig had ten points as well.

Akaemji Williams led the Lakers with 32 points and eight assists while Blake Marquadt had 28 points, which included eight three pointers.

The Oilers have never played Miami-Hamilton.

#20 Findlay

The Oilers are 2-0 on the season and have been led by senior forward Taren Sullivan, who is averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough is averaging 15.0 points and senior guard Elijah Kahlig is scoring 13.5 points per outing. Both players have hit a team-high eight three pointers in the two games the Oilers have played.

The Lakers are 2-0 on the season after beating Kentucky Wesleyan (96-66) and Alderson-Broaddus (79-63).

Akaemji Williams leads the team with averages of 21.5 points, 7.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Josh Goldschmidt and Blake Marquardt are averaging 12.5 points per game apiece while Malek Adams and Michael Nicholson are scoring 10.5 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.

An Elite Program

The Oilers have one of the best winning percentages in NCAA Division II competition since the year 2000, having won 419 games and lost only 105 for an overall winning percentage of .800.  During that timeframe, the Oilers reached the Elite 8 in 2005, appeared in the Sweet 16 in 2008 and again in 2017, and won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2009 with a perfect 36-0 record.

1,000-Point Club

Senior forward Taren Sullivan ranks 39th all-time at Findlay with 1,124 career points while senior guard Martyce Kimbrough ranks 40th all-time at Findlay with 1,107 career points. They are chasing Tyson McGlaughlin for 38th on the all-time scoring list as McGlaughlin put up 1,134 career points from 2002-05.

Three-Point Stroke

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough ranks sixth all-time at Findlay with 203 three pointers. Kimbrough is chasing Tyler Evans for fifth place all-time. Evans canned 206 three pointers for Findlay from 2006-09.

Kimbrough set a single-season record for most made three pointers last year with 114. His 114 made three pointers eclipsed the old reocrd of 95, set by Nathan Hyde during the 2009-10 campaign.
