#5 Bulldogs Top #18 Oilers 69-68 in Final Seconds
The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 18th in the nation, fell in the final seconds at 5th-ranked Ferris State University by a score of 69-68 on Nov. 25 in Big Rapids, Mich. The loss gives the Oilers a 4-2 record on the season.
The Oilers trailed 67-66 with under a minute to play before senior guard Martyce Kimbrough made a pair of free throws to give Findlay a 68-67 lead. The Oilers then got a defensive stop and Kimbrough was fouled, sending him back to the line for free throws. Kimbrough missed the front end however and the Bulldogs took advantage with the game-winning bucket in the final second of the contest.
The Oilers only shot 36.4 percent (24-of-66) from the floor while the Bulldogs converted 50 percent (29-of-58) of their field goal attempts in the game. The Bulldogs also held a 36-16 advantage in points in the paint and out-rebounded the Oilers by a 41-35 margin.
Kimbrough led the Oilers with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists while senior forward Taren Sullivan had 15 points and six boards.
Senior guard Elijah Kahlig recorded 12 points while junior forward Alex White nearly recorded a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
The Bulldogs were paced by Noah King and Drew Cushingberry, who each had 13 points in the game.
The Oilers will be back out on the court again on Monday when they travel to Midland, Mich. to face Northwood University at 6 p.m.
