Oilers Host Walsh | Malone this Week

The Oilers will be at home this week to host Walsh and Malone. The Oilers will play the Cavaliers on Dec. 7 at 6pm before hosting the Pioneers on Dec. 9 at 1pm in Croy Gymnasium.

Series Information

The Oilers hold a 21-7 lead in the all-time series against Walsh dating back to the 1964-65 campaign when Findlay came away with a 77-71 victory.The Oilers scored two buzzer-beating wins over Walsh last season. Taren Sullivan tipped in a missed jumper to give Findlay an 88-86 win over the Cavaliers in Croy and then Martyce Kimbrough drilled a long three pointer at the buzzer to give the Oilers an 88-85 victory over Walsh in Canton.

Kimbrough paced the Oilers with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting while Elijah Kahlig recorded 17 points in the home win. Sullivan finished the game with 15 points and nine rebounds.

In the road win, Kimbrough led the way with 28 points on 12-of-23 shooting. Sullivan turned in a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

The Oilers currently lead the all-time series against Malone by a 35-13 margin, winning the first meeting by a score of 86-63 during the 1959-60 campaign. The two programs last met during the 2015-16 season in Croy with the Oilers scoring a 70-69 win.

Martyce Kimbrough paced the team with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting while John Staley had 11 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists.Taren Sullivan contributed ten points, four rebounds and four assists.

Findlay

The Oilers are 7-2 on the season with a 2-0 record in conference play. They are coming off of a pair of road wins in the league last week. They defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 94-71 before claiming a 61-56 win over Trevecca Nazarene.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan has paced the Oilers and is averaging 17.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He is shooting 50.8 percent from the field and ranks third on the team with ten steals.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough is averaging 17.1 points per outing and has made a team-high 25 three pointers for Findlay this year.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig is also averaging in double figures at 10.1 points per contest. He ranks second on the team with 23 triples this season.

Sophomore forward Aaron Overhiser is contributing 8.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game off the bench while junior forward Alex White is producing 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per outing.

The Oilers are averaging 82.7 points per game and have been great at forcing turnovers as their opponents are averaging 15.8 per contest.

The Cavaliers are 5-1 on the season with a 2-0 record in Grea Midwest play. Chandler Vaudrin leads the team and is averaging 16.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

Sterling Christy (11.5) and Bo Furcron (11.2) are also averaging in double figures on the year.

The Pioneers are 6-2 on the year with a 1-1 record in conference play. Ty Jordan leads the team with averages of 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.

Nate Sheppard is scoring 17.8 points per game while Mitchell Spotleson is chipping in 10.9 points per outing.

1,000-Point Club

Senior forward Taren Sullivan and senior guard Martyce Kimbrough are currently tied for 30th all-time at Findlay in career points scored. Both players have produced 1,220 points during their tenure with the program.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig is looking to join the 1,000-point club this season and has scored 775 career points during his tenure at Findlay.

Three-Point Stroke

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough ranks fourth all-time at Findlay with 219 three pointers. Kimbrough is chasing Tyson McGlaughlin for third place all-time. McGlaughlin canned 238 three pointers for Findlay from 2002-05.

Former All-American Marc Bishop holds the school record for most made three pointers in a career as he connected on 313 from 1996-99.

Kimbrough set a single-season record for most made three pointers last year with 114. His 114 made three pointers eclipsed the old record of 95, set by Nathan Hyde during the 2009-10 campaign.

A Tough Place to Play

The Oilers are 598-118 (.835) in Croy Gymnasium since they starting playing home games there during the 1969-70 season.  They have gone undefeated at home eight times in a season since they began play in Croy Gymnasium as well. 

In the past 15 years the Oilers have posted a staggering 222-10 record at home for an incredible winning percentage of .957.

From 2004-11, the Oilers won 71-straight home games, which at the time was the longest streak in the nation regardless of NCAA division.

Dominating Conference Games in Croy

The Oilers have won 124 out of their last 130 regular season conference games at home.  From 2004-13, the Oilers won 84-straight conference games in Croy Gymnasium.
