Oilers Hang on For 89-85 Win over Pioneers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team hung on for an 89-85 win over Malone University on Dec. 9 in Croy Gymnasium. The win pushes the Oilers record to 9-2 on the season with a 4-0 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers ended the game by hitting 52.5 percent (32-of-61) of their shot attempts, which included a 13-of-32 (40.6%) showing from behind the three point line. The Pioneers meanwhile hit 53.6 percent (30-of-56) from the floor and made 13-of-29 (44.8%) attempts from three point range.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig led the Oilers with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He connected on 5-of-9 attempts from three point range, including three in a row in the second half to give Findlay momentum.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He also added six assists and made 6-of-9 attempts from the field in the game.

Junior forward Alex White provided 15 points and seven rebounds while senior guard Martyce Kimbrough had 15 points and three assists.

Junior guard Trey Smith and sophomore forward Aaron Overhiser came off the bench to provide seven points apiece as well.

Ty Jordan led the Pioneers with 41 points on 13-of-19 shooting. He made 8-of-13 tries from behind the three point line and also chipped in six rebounds and three steals in the game.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 13 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio Dominican University.
