Late Run Gives #16 Oilers Win over Chargers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with a 59-50 win over Hillsdale College on Jan. 13 in Hillsdale, Mich. The victory gives the 16th-ranked Oilers a 17-2 record on the season with an 11-0 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers found themselves down by five at 47-42 with 7:33 remaining in the game. They would then outscore the Chargers by a 17-3 margin the rest of the game to extend their winning streak to 13 games.

Findlay shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the floor and forced 16 turnovers in the game. They also came away with 11 steals and outscored the Chargers by a 16-5 margin in points off of turnovers.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan led the way with 16 points and five rebounds while senior guard Martyce Kimbrough had 12 points and tied his career-high with six rebounds in the win.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig had nine points while freshman guard Tommy Schmock had seven points and four steals.

Junior forward Alex White also had a good game, scoring six points to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds.

The Chargers made 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from the floor and were led by Stedman Lowry's 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Jan. 20 when they have a road game at Ohio Valley University. The game is scheduled to tip at 4pm.
