#14 Oilers Host Hillsdale for Senior Day

The No. 14 Oilers will close out the 2017-18 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) regular season on Feb. 24 against Hillsdale. The contest, which will be senior day, is slated to tip at 1pm in Croy Gymnasium.

Senior Day

The Oilers will recognize their seniors before the start of the Oilers game against Hillsdale.

Series Information

The Oilers currently own a commanding 51-9 advantage in the all-time series against the Chargers dating back to the 1959-60 campaign when Findlay won 90-59.

Findlay claimed a 59-50 win over the Chargers earlier this season in Hillsdale. The Oilers found themselves down by five at 47-42 with 7:33 remaining in the game. They would then outscore the Chargers by a 17-3 margin the rest of the game to scratch out the victory. Findlay shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the floor and forced 16 turnovers in the game. They also came away with 11 steals and outscored the Chargers by a 16-5 margin in points off of turnovers.

Taren Sullivan led the way with 16 points and five rebounds while Martyce Kimbrough had 12 points and tied his career-high with six rebounds in the win.

Elijah Kahlig had nine points while Tommy Schmock had seven points and four steals. Alex White also had a good game, scoring six points to go along with 13 rebounds.

The Chargers made 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from the floor and were led by Stedman Lowry's 15 points and eight rebounds.

#14 Findlay

The Oilers are 24-3 on the season with an 18-1 record in league play. They have already clinched the regular season Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) title and have secured the top-seed in the league tournament, which will take place on March 1-3 in Croy Gymnasium.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough leads the team and is averaging 18.4 points per contest. Kimbrough has also made 82 three pointers and is making 3.3 triples per contest, the best mark in the league.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan is also having a great season and is averaging 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Sullivan is shooting 53.9 percent from the floor as well.

Junior forward Alex White is contributing 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while senior guard Elijah Kahlig is recording 9.4 points per game and has made 54 three pointers on the year.

The Oilers lead the conference in points per game at 84.4 and are shooting a league-best 49.4 percent from the floor. They also lead the league in steals per game (9.1) and fewest turnovers per game (9.6).

Findlay is currently undefeated at home on the year.

Hillsdale

The Chargers are 19-7 on the season with a 13-6 record in conference play.

Stedman Lowry leads a balanced offensive attack with an average of 14.2 points per game. Lowry has also made 72 three pointers on the season.

Nick Czarnowski is scoring 13.0 points per game and also grabbing a team-high 6.5 rebounds per outing.

Ryan Badowski has made 54 three pointers and is averaging 12.6 points per game while Nate Neveau is scoring 9.0 points per contest and averaging 5.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

1,000-Point Club

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough ranks 13th all-time at Findlay with 1,564 career points. He is chasing Randy O'Dell for 12th place on the all-time scoring list. O'Dell put up 1,572 points for the Oilers from 2008-11.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan ranks 16th all-time at Findlay with 1,491 career points. He is chasing Frank Phillips for 15th place on the all-time scoring list. Phillips put up 1,521 career points for the Oilers during the 2003-07 campaigns.

Senior guard Elijah Kahlig is looking to join the 1,000-point club this season and has scored 938 career points during his tenure at Findlay.

The Oilers have seen 46 players reach the 1,000-point plateau during their careers with the program.

Three-Point Stroke

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough is ranked second all-time at Findlay with 285 made three pointers. Former All-American Marc Bishop holds the school record for most made three pointers in a career as he connected on 313 triples from 1996-99. Kimbrough set a single-season record for most made three pointers during the 2016-17 campaign with 114.

Kimbrough is also rising the Oilers all-time list for career three pointers attempted as he has hoisted 697 during his tenure with the team. His total is the second-highest all-time at Findlay. Bishop holds the school record for most attempted three pointers with 779.

In addition, senior guard Elijah Kahlig has seen 208 shots from three point range go through the net, the fifth-highest total in school history. His 536 attempts from long range is also the fifth-highest total in program history.

A Tough Place to Play

The Oilers are 608-118 (.837) in Croy Gymnasium since they starting playing home games there during the 1969-70 season.  They have gone undefeated at home eight times in a season since they began play in Croy Gymnasium as well. 

In the past 15 years the Oilers have posted a staggering 232-10 record at home for an incredible winning percentage of .959.

From 2008-11, the Oilers won 71-straight home games, which at the time was the longest streak in the nation regardless of NCAA division.

Dominating Conference Games in Croy

The Oilers have won 133 out of their last 139 regular season conference games at home.  From 2004-13, the Oilers won 84-straight conference games in Croy Gymnasium.

Their last loss to a conference opponent at home came at the hands of Lake Superior State on Dec. 10, 2016 when they were a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). They fell 90-85 in that contest.
