#11 Oilers Cruise to 87-56 Win Over Panthers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team cruised to an 87-56 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College in the first round of the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament on March 1 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory pushed the 11th-ranked Oilers record to 26-3 on the year.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough led four Findlay players in double figures with 20 points and also tied his career-high with seven rebounds.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan had 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals while sophomore forward Matt Ashley came off the bench to provide a career-high 11 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore forward Aaron Overhiser also reached double figures with 11 points to go along with eight boards.

Senior guard Austin Gardner nearly reached double figures with nine points on 4-of-4 shooting while junior guard Trey Smith had seven points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals off the pine.

The Oilers shot 42.3 percent (30-of-71) from the floor and held a 47-37 advantage on the boards. They also recorded 13 steals and forced 17 turnovers in the win. Findlay also held Kentucky Wesleyan to a mere 31.7 percent (19-of-60) shooting clip in the quarterfinal contest.

Findlay will be back in action again tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
