Big 2nd Half Propels #13 Oilers to Round of 32

The University of Findlay men's basketball team advanced to the round of 32 with an 84-65 win over Drury University on March 10 in Big Rapids, Mich. The victory gives the 13th-ranked Oilers a 27-4 record on the year.

The Oilers came out a bit sluggish in the opening half as Drury shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the floor and made seven three pointers en route to a 38-34 lead. Findlay completely dominated the final period however as they outscored the Panthers 50-27.

The Oilers shot 46.4 percent (32-of-69) from the floor and forced 18 turnovers. They held a 24-7 lead in points off of turnovers and did a great job of protecting the ball as they only committed four turnovers on the day.

Senior forward Taren Sullivan led the charge with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He also made 4-of-8 attempts from three point range and added six rebounds and two assists.

Junior forward Alex White began the second half with a drop step dunk and finished the game with 13 points and five rebounds while senior guard Martyce Kimbrough had 13 points, two assists and two steals.

Freshman guard Tommy Schmock and junior guard Trey Smith played well off the bench as they both produced six points. Schmock added three assists and three steals while Smith had three boards and two assists.

The Oilers will play the winner of the Bellarmine University and Truman State University game at 5pm tomorrow.
