Oilers Picked as Favorites in Preseason Poll

The University of Findlay men's basketball team was picked to finish first in the annual Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Oct. 22.

The Oilers received 136 points in the poll and a league-high seven first place votes. Hillsdale College finished right behind the Oilers with 125 points and three first place votes.

Findlay finished last season with a 28-5 record, which included a 19-1 record in league play. They won the regular season conference title, but fell in the G-MAC Championship. The Oilers then made a run in the NCAA Division II National Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season before being eliminated by eventual national champion, Ferris State University.

Senior Alex White is back to lead the team after averaging 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Junior Aaron Overhiser and senior Trey Smith are also back after posting averages of 6.8 and 5.4 points per game, respectively.
