Oilers to Hold 10-Year Celebration of National Title on Dec. 29

The University of Findlay will hold a 10-year celebration of their 2008-09 men's basketball team on Dec. 29, 2018. The 2008-09 team went 36-0 and secured the NCAA Division II National Championship in dramatic fashion as Tyler Evans connected on a three pointer as time expired in overtime.

Many of the team members and coaching staff will be on hand to take part in this celebration, which will take place at halftime of the Oilers game against Olivet College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3pm in Croy Gymnasium.

In addition, the Oilers basketball team will be welcoming back all alumni for a celebration at Alexandria's from 5:30-7:30pm. The team will also hold an alumni game before their contest against Olivet at noon on Dec. 29 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers went wire-to-wire as the top-ranked team in the nation during the 2008-09 season. Head coach Ron Niekamp was voted the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year while Josh Bostic earned NCAA Division II Player of the Year accolades.

In addition, Bostic was named a first team All-American as well as all-region and all-conference. Morgan Lewis and Marcus Parker also earned all-conference accolades for the Oilers.
