Cedarville Defeats #9 Oilers 82-69

The 9th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season at Cedarville on Dec. 1, falling 82-69 to the Yellow Jackets. The loss gives the Oilers a 6-1 record on the season with a 1-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers hit a season-low 40.4 percent (23-of-57) of their field goal attempts and were out-rebounded 38-27. The Yellow Jackets, who had a 20-point lead midway through the second half, shot 47.2 percent (25-of-53) from the floor and connected on 27-of-28 (96.4%) attempts from the free throw line in the game.

Senior guard Trey Smith paced the Oilers with a career-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting. He also hit 4-of-8 attempts from three point range and added three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Freshman forward Deven Stover came off the bench to provide a career-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting while senior forward Alex White saw his four-game streak of double-doubles come to an end, finishing with 11 points and six boards.

Sophomore guard Tommy Schmock also reached double figures with ten points to go along with six assists while junior forward Aaron Overhiser had eight points and four rebounds.

Grant Zawadzki led the Yellow Jackets with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Oilers will return home to host Walsh University on Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
