Oilers Host Chargers on Saturday

The Oilers will be back at home to host Hillsdale College on Jan. 19. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest is scheduled to begin at 3pm inside the Croy Physical Education Center.

Series Information

The Oilers currently own a commanding 52-9 advantage in the all-time series against the Chargers dating back to the 1959-60 campaign when Findlay won 90-59.

Findlay came away with a pair of victories over Hillsdale last year, winning 59-50 on the road and 88-61 at home.

In the road win, Taren Sullivan led the way with 16 points and five rebounds while Martyce Kimbrough had 12 points and six rebounds.

In the win at home, Elijah Kahlig led the way with 20 points on the strength of a 6-of-7 showing from three point range. Kahlig also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest.

Kimbrough had 14 points while Sullivan had 12 points, ten assists, and five boards.

Alex White reached double figures with ten points and also chipped in six rebounds while Aaron Overhiser contributed eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

Findlay

The Oilers are 14-2 on the season with a 6-1 record in conference play. They are coming off of a 93-51 win over Ohio Valley on Jan. 12.

Senior forward Alex White leads the team with averages of 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He has recorded eight double-doubles on the season and has also blocked 2.2 shots per contest.

Junior forward Aaron Overhiser is scoring 15.4 points per contest and grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 46.7 percent from three point range, the best mark on the team.

Senior guard Trey Smith sports averages of 12.2 points, 3.6 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He has also made a team-high 37 three pointers this year.

Sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco is also averaging in double figures at 10.7 points per outing while sophomore guard Tommy Schmock and sophomore forward Chazz George are each scoring 7.6 points per game.

Freshman guard Ethan Linder is also averaging over 7.0 points per outing and is scoring 7.1 points per game.

Hillsdale

The Chargers are 11-5 on the season with a 7-2 record in league play. They are coming off of a 67-65 win over Ohio Dominican on Jan. 12 and have won three straight games.

Dylan Lowry leads the team and is averaging 13.8 points per game.

Davis Larson is scoring 11.6 points per outing and also grabbing 5.3 rebounds per contest. He also leads the team with 27 steals.

Austin Yarian is also scoring in double figures at 11.6 points per game while Harrison Niego is chipping in 9.9 points per outing.

Sophomore guard Tommy Schmock leads the league in assists per game at 6.3. Senior guard Trey Smith ranks ninth with 3.6 assists per outing.

As a team, the Oilers lead the league in assists per game at 18.7.

Double-Doubles

Senior forward Alex White has recorded eight double-doubles this season and is ranked fifth in the league in scoring at 18.1 points per game. His 9.5 rebounds per contest is the third-best mark in the conference.

White also ranks second in the league in blocked shots per game, swatting 2.2 attempts per outing.

Dominating Conference Games in Croy

The Oilers have won 139 out of their last 145 regular season conference games at home.  From 2004-13, the Oilers won 84-straight conference games in Croy Gymnasium.

Their last loss to a conference opponent at home came at the hands of Lake Superior State on Dec. 10, 2016 when they were a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). They fell 90-85 in that contest.
