#6 Oilers Survive and Advance

The 6th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team survived and advanced in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament with an 80-77 win over Cedarville University on March 8 inside the Croy Physical Education Center.

The Oilers, who are now 27-3 on the season, received a huge boost from their two seniors in the win. Alex White led the way with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds while Trey Smith had 25 points and four assists.

White hit 13-of-19 attempts from the field including a 6-of-8 showing from behind the three point line. His six makes and eight attempts established new career-highs. Smith meanwhile made 8-of-14 from the field and tied his career-high by going 6-of-10 from three point range.

Sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco reached double figures with ten points while sophomore guard Tommy Schmock had eight points and nine assists.

The Oilers shot 52.6 percent (30-of-57) from the field and connected on 16-of-31 (51.6%) attempts from three point range. They also held the Yellow Jackets to a 38.5 percent (25-of-65) shooting clip in the win.

The Oilers will now play the winner of the Walsh and Hillsdale game.
