Oilers Fall 75-68 to Rockets | Raise $2,500

The University of Findlay men's basketball team fell 75-68 to the University of Toledo on Oct. 27 in an exhibition game at the newly named Niekamp Arena inside the Croy Physical Education Center. The Oilers also raised $2,500 for United Way of the Greater Dayton Area.

The Oilers built a 34-27 lead at the break, but the Rockets outscored Findlay 48-34 in the second half to pick up the victory two years after the Oilers beat Toledo 89-86 at home.

The Oilers shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the floor and canned 12-of-35 (34.3%) attempts from three point range in the game. The Rockets meanwhile connected on 42.4 percent (25-of-59) of their field goal attempts, but hit only 6-of-24 (25%) tries from three point land. The difference in the game came at the free throw line where the Rockets were 19-of-24 (79.2%) and the Oilers were 0-of-3.

Senior forward Aaron Overhiser paced the Oilers with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Overhiser made 6-of-14 attempts from the field and was 3-for-6 from three point range.

Junior guard Tommy Schmock reached double figures with 11 points to go along with six assists while junior forward Brady Wildermuth had ten points, two rebounds, and two steals off the bench.

Junior forward Anthony Masterlasco nearly reached double figures with nine points while junior guard Tre'Maine Gray and freshman forward Nathan Bruns came off the pine to chip in eight points apiece. Gray added three assists while Bruns grabbed eight rebounds.

The Rockets were led by Luke Knapke's 18 points and nine rebounds. Willie Jackson recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Marreon Jackson had 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Oilers will play one more exhibition game at Bowling Green State University before their regular season begins. They will play the Falcons on Oct. 30 at 7pm in Bowling Green.
