Oilers Knock Off #14 Bulldogs 86-74

The University of Findlay men's basketball team knocked off 14th-ranked Ferris State University by a score of 86-74 on Nov. 23 in Niekamp Arena. The win over the previously unbeaten Bulldogs pushes the Oilers record to 3-2 on the season.

The Oilers built a 71-51 lead midway through the second half before Ferris State came storming back to get within five points at 79-74 with just over a minute to play. Junior guard Joey Edmonds then buried a big three pointer on the ensuing possession and the Oilers went 4-for-4 from the line down the stretch to seal the victory.

Findlay hit 48.3 percent (29-of-60) of their field goal attempts and made 7-of-15 (46.7%) attempts from behind the three point line in the game. They also made 21-of-26 (80.8%) attempts from the free throw line and came away with ten steals in the victory.

Senior guard Ethan Linder came off the bench to provide a career-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Linder also made all three of his three point attempts and grabbed six rebounds.

Edmonds had a big game as well, scoring a career-high 19 points to go along with three assists and three steals while junior forward Nathan Bruns posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Senior forward Deven Stover provided a spark off the bench and finished with 11 points in 13 minutes while senior forward Anthony Masterlasco also reached double figures with ten points to go along with four rebounds and three steals.

The Bulldogs were led by Ben Davidson and Walt Kelser, who each scored 18 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Nov. 27 when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to face the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
