Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team defeated the Point Park University Pioneers on Nov. 25 in Croy Gymnasium by a score of 80-66. Point Park is an NAIA school out of Pittsburgh, Pa. and has a record of 6-1 in their regular season but played Friday's game as an exhibition contest. With the win, the Oilers, who played the game as a countable contest, improved to 3-2.

Midway through the first half, Findlay's lead remained less than ten at 23-19. The Oilers closed the half on a 25-11 run, ultimately taking a 48-30 lead into halftime.

The Pioneers' play improved in the second half, outscoring Findlay 36-32 in the final 20 minutes of action. Three-point shooting certainly helped in that effort as Point Park hit .500 of their attempts from deep in the second half while the Oilers hit just 1-of-8 from deep in the same time frame. PPU also cleaned up their ball control after committing six turnovers in the first half, turning it over just three times in the second.

By games' end, however, Findlay's first half dominance was too much as the Oilers would go on to a 14-point victory on the day following Thanksgiving.

Findlay shot 32-of-62 (.492) in the game including 10-of-23 (.435) from deep. The three-point effort was helped by a red-hot start for the Oilers which hit nine triples.

Senior Nathan Bruns led the way with a 19-point night, making 7-of-12 attempts from the floor including a pair of threes. He also grabbed five rebounds and had two assists.

Freshman Jagger Landers scored 15 points, including two triples, while junior Andrew Owens scored 14 and freshman Khalil Luster added 13. Owens had two triples while Luster, who also had three rebounds, was a perfect 3-for-3 from deep.

The Oilers are back in action on Thursday, Dec. 1 when they will open conference play with a battle against Ashland University. That contest will tip of at 7:30 pm.
