Oilers Win Lake Superior State Invitational

The University of Findlay men's golf team won the Lake Superior State University Invitational on Sunday, September 12 at the Oaks at Kincheloe Golf Course in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The Oilers shot a two-round score of 608 (299, 309) to defeat Grand Valley State University by one stroke (309, 300 – 609).

Justin Watren led the way by tying for fourth place with a 150 (74, 76) while Michael Schmitmeyer (73, 78 – 151) took eighth.

Joe McGeean also came away with a top-20 finish, tying for 14th with a score of 153 (76, 77).

Matt Jones (76, 80 – 156) and Logan Cooke (81, 78 – 159) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action again on September 20-21 at the first NCAA Regional of the season. The event will take place at the Hawks Head Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan.
