Jones, Oilers Win At Lake Erie

The University of Findlay men's golf team took first place at the Lake Erie College Invitational on Sunday, April 17 at the Madison Country Club in Madison, Ohio. The Oilers shot a two-round score of 603 (303, 300) to edge Wayne State University (305, 299 – 304) for top honors.

Individually, Matt Jones captured first place after shooting a four-over par score of 146 (72, 74).

Michael Schmitmeyer (76, 74 – 150) and Jeff Mocini (74, 79 – 153) also placed in the top-ten, taking sixth and tenth, respectively, at the event.

Joe McGeean (81, 74 – 155), Logan Cooke (79, 76 – 155), Marcus Hunt (81, 78 – 159), Kyle Nickson (81, 83 – 164) and Justin Watren (84, 81 – 165) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 23 at the Ferris State Invitational in Big Rapids, Michigan.
