Oilers, Schmitmeyer Win at Ashland

Results

The University of Findlay men's golf team took first place at the Ashland University Invitational, which concluded on Sunday, April 22 at the Country Club of Ashland.  The Oilers shot a two-round score of 598 (300, 298) to better the field of 13 teams.

Michael Schmitmeyer led the charge as he took first place with a 144.  Schmitmeyer fired a 1-under par score of 71 in the opening round on Saturday and then came back with a 1-over par score of 73 to finish the tournament even.

Jake North and Stephen Sinchok each tied for seventh as they carded an identical 151, each shooting a 77 in the first round and a 74 in the second.

Marcus Hunt tied for 12th with a 752 (75, 77) while Logan Cooke (77, 77 – 154) finished in a tie for 17th place.

Kirby Doidge (86, 76 – 162) and Jack Kastor (83, 81 – 164) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 28 at the GLIAC Preview in Elyria, Ohio.
