Hunt, Oilers Finish 2nd at John Piper Invite

Results

The University of Findlay men's golf team placed second with a 54-hole score of 900 at the John Piper Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The Oilers shot a 306 in the first round before coming back with a 289 during the second round yesterday.  They then fired a 305 in the final round on Tuesday.

Marcus Hunt finished second, two strokes off the lead, with a three-round score of 219.

Hunt shot a 73 in the opening round, fired a 75 in the second and then shot a 1-under par score of 71 during the final round of competition to finish three strokes over par for the tournament.

Stephen Sinchok, who led the tournament after the first round with a 2-under par score of 70, finished in a tie for seventh with a 224.

Sinchok carded a 75 during the second round and then shot a 79 in the final round to give him his 54-hole total.

Matthew Fisher and Dustin Lieber finished 11th and 13th, respectively, while Jack Kastor tied for 16th.

Fisher shot a 227 (77, 71, 79), Lieber carded a 228 (78, 70, 80) and Kastor finished with a 229 (78, 75, 76).

Jake North tied for 20th with a 231 (79, 73, 79) and Chien-Han Sung finished in a tie for 26th with a 235 (75, 81, 79).

The Oilers will now compete in the GLIAC Fall Tournament on Sept. 21-22 at the Hawks Head Golf Course in South Haven, Mich.
