Wardley Leads Oilers at The Jewell

Batavia, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's golf team participated in the second Midwest regional, "The Jewell" at Elks Run on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3. The Oilers finished in a tie for 16th with a team score of 635. In the event, there were 125 individuals competing on 25 teams.

Sophomore Cam Wardley paced the Oilers as he fired an opening-round 76 on Saturday and matched that with a 76 on Sunday for a two-round total of 152. That score put him in a tie for 15th overall.

Finishing in a tie for 50th in the event was sophomore Justin Roth who shot an 80 in the first round and bounced back with a 78 in the second for a shot total of 158.

Senior Dustin Lieber shot 79 on Saturday but struggled on Sunday, carding an 84 for a total of 163. That placed him in a tie for 81st.

Freshman Andrew Bruns and Dylan DeWitt each finished with two-round scores of 166 and tie for 93rd in the event. Bruns shot an 83 in each of the two rounds while DeWitt carded an 86 on Saturday and improved to an 80 on Sunday.

The Oilers next event will take place on Sunday and Monday, April 10-11, in Noblesville, Ind. at the Purgatory Golf Club. It will be the final rounds before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship, which takes place the following week.
