The University of Findlay men's golf team is currently in sixth place after the first day of competition at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational, which is being held at the Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky.

The Oilers shot a 1-over par score of 289 on the first day and were led by Sam Griffith, who posted a 5-under par score of 67. Griffith's 67 is the second-lowest 18-hole score in school history.

Luke Kelly also went under par for the day and carded a 2-under 70 to put him in a tie for 11th at the event.

Justin Roth posted an even-par score of 70 and is tied for 19th while Cameron Bruce is tied for 26th with a 1-over par score of 73.

Dylan DeWitt fired a 2-over par score of 74 and is tied for 36th while Cam Wardley recorded a 5-over par score of 77 and is tied for 68th.

The tournament will continue tomorrow.
