Oilers Take 5th at Spring Invite

The University of Findlay men's golf team finished fifth at their Spring Invitational, which wrapped up second round action on March 27 at the University Club of Kentucky – Big Blue in Lexington, Ky. The Oilers fired a 298 on the second day and ended the tournament with a 36-hole score of 602 (304, 298).

The University of Indianapolis claimed the tournament title with a 2-under par score of 574 (294, 290) and were followed by Maryville University (590) and Grand Valley State University (590) in the team standings. Individually, Trevecca Nazarene's Larken Whittemore won the event with a 4-under par score of 140 (69, 71).

Justin Roth and Cameron Bruce led Findlay and tied for 14th at the tournament. Roth posted a 2-over par score of 74 on the second day to finish with a 4-over par score of 148 (74, 74) at the event. Bruce meanwhile shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday and was 4-over par for the tournament (76, 72 – 148).

Cam Wardley tied for 23rd with a 6-over par score of 150. Wardley posted a 76 in the opening round and then fired a 74 in round two for his score.

Luke Kelly tied for 30th with a 151 (77, 74), Sam Griffith tied for 68th with a 157 (79, 78) while Dylan DeWitt tied for 75th with a 158 (77, 81).

The Oilers will hit the links again on April 8-10 when they take part in the Purgatory Regional at Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville, Ind.
