Oilers | Kelly Win Motor City Invitational

The University of Findlay men's golf team won the Motor City Invitational, which was held at the TPC of Michigan on Oct. 15-16 in Dearborn, Mich., with a 36-hole score of 610 (297, 313).The Oilers won the event by two strokes over Bellarmine University in the field of 19 teams.

Junior Luke Kelly captured the third tournament title of his career by shooting a 3-over par score of 147 at the event. Kelly carded a 1-over par round of 73 before coming back with a 2-over par score of 74 for his total at the tournament and did most of his damage on par-5 holes as he led the field by shooting 3-under par.

Freshman Hunter Foltz tied for 11th at the tournament with a 153 (73, 80) while freshman Caleb Westfall turned in a 154 (71, 83) and tied for 13th.

Junior Sam Griffith tied for 27th with a 157 (80, 77), senior Dylan DeWitt tied for 33rd with a 159 (80, 79), sophomore Parker Haynes tied for 60th with a 166 (84, 82) and junior Cameron Bruce tied for 60th with a 166 (84, 82).

As a team, the Oilers led the field with 20 birdies and were 6-under par on par-5 holes.

The Oilers will head into the winter now and prepare for the spring portion of their schedule in 2019.
